Captaining your country at a major tournament is an honour not lost on Tomáš Souček. The Czech midfielder expressed his immense pride in leading the Czech Republic at UEFA Euro 2024 during a chat at Rush Green before heading to Germany.
“It’s the second Euros of my career, but to go as captain is a special feeling,” Souček said. “Captaining my nation is perfect, an honour. It is something I dreamed about as a young guy, but now I am here, and I’m ready.”
The Czech Republic, known for their football fervor, have high expectations for this summer. Inspired by past legends like Pavel Nedvěd and Petr Čech, Souček and his team are determined to go beyond just participating. “We want to do well for our country and to show the young people what is possible and what you can achieve,” Souček added. With Group F fixtures against Portugal, Turkey, and Georgia, the Czechs aim to replicate their success from Euro 2020 and inspire the next generation.
