Manchester City forward Jack Grealish and Manchester United defender Harry Maguire are expected to be omitted from England’s Euro 2024 squad. The Football Association has yet to make an official announcement, and England manager Gareth Southgate is scheduled to hold a press conference at 18:00 BST on Thursday before the final pre-tournament friendly against Iceland at Wembley on Friday.

Maguire, 31, has not fully recovered from a calf injury sustained in April, which also sidelined him for United’s FA Cup final victory over Manchester City. Grealish, 28, has seen limited playtime recently, remaining on the bench for key Premier League matches against Tottenham and West Ham, as well as during the FA Cup final.

Despite his lack of recent club appearances, Grealish featured as a substitute in England’s 3-0 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina on Monday, where his performance earned praise. Nonetheless, his exclusion from the final squad appears imminent as Southgate finalizes his selections.

The final squad for the tournament will be revealed following England’s friendly against Iceland, with Southgate aiming to assemble a team capable of competing at the highest level in Euro 2024.
