England clinched a 3-0 T20 series victory over Pakistan with a commanding 34-run win at Headingley, propelled by Danni Wyatt’s explosive 87. Wyatt took full advantage of Pakistan’s sloppy fielding, being dropped on 12, 79, and 81, to score the majority of England’s 176 runs. Her aggressive innings, including 45 runs from her last 16 balls, initially set England on track for an even higher total. However, her dismissal triggered a collapse, with England losing eight wickets for 58 runs, culminating in their dismissal in exactly 20 overs.
Despite England’s innings being cut short, their score was the highest of the series and proved insurmountable for Pakistan. The tourists started promisingly, reaching 60-0, but struggled to maintain the required run rate. Sophie Ecclestone’s dismissal of Sidra Ameen for 26 in the ninth over, followed by Gull Feroza’s wicket in the next over for 30, slowed Pakistan’s momentum. From that point, Pakistan was always playing catch-up, unable to accelerate as needed.
Captain Nida Dar and Aliya Riaz provided some resistance with an unbeaten partnership of 69, Pakistan’s highest stand in T20s against England, but it was not enough. Pakistan finished their innings at 142-4, falling well short of the target. The focus now shifts to the upcoming three-match one-day international series between the sides, starting in Derby on Thursday.
