Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson is set to miss the Premier League title decider and the FA Cup final due to a fractured eye socket. The 30-year-old Brazilian sustained the injury during City’s 2-0 league win over Tottenham, following a collision with Spurs’ Cristian Romero. Ederson was visibly unhappy when he was substituted after 69 minutes of the match. City, currently leading the Premier League, will face West Ham on Sunday. A win or a result that matches Arsenal’s against Everton will secure their fourth consecutive league title.

City will also compete against Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley on May 25. With Ederson sidelined, Stefan Ortega is expected to step in for the crucial fixtures. Ortega made several important saves after replacing Ederson in the match against Spurs, showcasing his readiness for the upcoming challenges. The German goalkeeper has been a regular in City’s FA Cup and Carabao Cup campaigns over the past two seasons and was already anticipated to play in the FA Cup final, even if Ederson had been available.

Ederson’s absence is a significant blow for Manchester City as they approach these pivotal matches. However, the team remains confident in Ortega’s abilities to perform under pressure. As City prepares for these decisive games, their focus will be on securing the Premier League title and achieving victory in the FA Cup final, aiming to cap off a successful season despite the setback of losing their first-choice goalkeeper.
