Chelsea secured a crucial 2-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge, bolstering their chances for European football while denting their London rivals’ aspirations of qualifying for the Champions League next season. Trevoh Chalobah opened the scoring for Chelsea with a powerful header midway through the first half, followed by Nicolas Jackson’s goal in the 71st minute, sealing the win for the Blues.

The triumph propelled Chelsea into eighth place, trailing Newcastle by two points, thus keeping alive their hopes for a European berth. Meanwhile, Tottenham finds themselves seven points adrift of fourth-placed Aston Villa, with their Champions League ambitions taking a significant hit. Liverpool’s qualification for the Champions League in the upcoming season was confirmed following Tottenham’s defeat.

Despite Chelsea’s impressive home record, having lost only one of their 17 previous home games, stand-in captain Conor Gallagher showcased a stellar performance, notably contributing to Chalobah’s goal and earning plaudits from supporters. However, with Gallagher’s contract set to expire soon, Chelsea may entertain offers for the midfielder, with Tottenham reportedly expressing interest in securing his services.
